Department of Agricultural Engineering, NMCA, Navsari is organizing 3 days workshop-cum-training on ‘Operational Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Precision Farming’ during October 10-12, 2022. The inaugural function of this workshop-cum-training was held today in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel as President; Shri Rajbir Singh, Vice-President of Scanpoint Geomatics Ltd, Ahmedabad as Chief Guest; Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, Director of Research and Dr. O. P. Sharma, I/c Principal, NMCA as Guests of honour.
In the presidential address, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor highlighted the applications of geospatial technology in various disciplines of agriculture and said that the technology of remote sensing & GIS are the need of future. He appealed all the participants to gain practical knowledge of GIS softwares in this training, so that it will be helpful to faculties in research and students in their higher studies. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor explained the concept of remote sensing & GIS in simplified way by correlating it with ‘Mahabharat’. He also congratulated the team of Agricultural Engineering department for organizing this multidisciplinary workshop on much needed topic.
Dr. N. M. Chauhan-DEE; Dr. P. K. Srivastava- Dean, Forestry; Dr. Ruchira Shukla- Dean, AABMI; Dr. Lalit Mahatma-ADR; Head of the Departments and faculties of NMCA were also present during the inaugural function. 70 students and faculties of NAU are participating in this workshop. Training book prepared by the faculties of the Agricultural Engineering department was also released on this occasion.
