The 31st National Conference on “Innovative resource management approaches for coastal and inland ecosystems to sustain productivity and climate resilience” was held at Navsari Agricultural University from October 13 to 15, 2022 in collaboration with Soil Conservation Society of India, New Delhi. 

The inaugural session was presided over by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, while Chief Guest of the session was Dr. A. K. Singh, Vice President, NAAS, Ex Vice Chancellor, RVSKVV, Gwalior, Ex. DDG (NRM), ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. A. Arunachalam, Director, CAFRI, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh; Mr. Maniswara Raja, Chief Conservator of Forest, Valsad, Gujarat were the Guest of Honour. Dr. O. P. Aishwath, Vice President, SCSI (West Zone), Dr. P. K. Shrivastava, Convener, President Gujarat Chapter of SCSI & Dean, College of Forestry also graced the dais. The Soil Conservation Society of India felicitated Dr. Z. P. Patel, Hon. Vice Chancellor with honorary membership award of the society and several other national awards were conferred to the members of the society. Before the session, guests inaugurated a small exhibition depicting value added products made in the University under various Experiential Learning Programmes. 

There were 306 abstracts submitted by researchers from 19 states of India and one from Egypt. Out of which 141 papers were listed for Oral and 166 papers for poster presentations. Total 229 researchers and students registered for the conference.

The USP moment of the Conference was the message from Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji directly in the inaugural session. During the Conference 17 eminent and experienced speakers enlightened the gathering with lead lectures, including the online presentation of paper by Padmshree and Professor (Dr) Ratan Lal, from Ohio State Agricultural University, USA. Dr. S. Raman delivered the J. S. Bali (1923-2016) Memorial Lecture.

In the plenary session on Oct 15, also Dr. Z. P. Patel, Hon Vice Chancellor, remained present, the guest of the concluding function was Dr. S Raman, Retd. Chief Scientist, Soil & Water Management Research Unit (SWMRU) as the Chief Guest, Dr. R. G. Patel, Retd. Research Scientist, SWMRU as the Guest of Honour of the function. Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Professor, IGNOU and Member, Executive Council & Treasurer of Society of Soil Conservation Society of India (SCSI), Dr. O. P. Aishwath, Vice President, SCSI (West Zone), Dr. P.K. Shrivastava, Convener, President Gujarat Chapter of SCSI & Dean, College of Forestry, Dr J M Patel, Organizing Secretary & Research Scientist, SWMRU and Dr K G Patel, Co-Organizing Secretary, Head, Soil Science & Agriculture Chemistry graced the plenary session of the 3-day National Conference held in collaboration with SCSI.

Dignitaries disbursed 25 awards to participants listed under various themes of oral and poster presentations, sizeable number of awards have been won by faculties and students of the University.
