Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel along with Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, Director of Research; Dr. V. R. Naik, ADR; Dr. J. M. Patel, Research Scientist (S&W) visited Main Rice Research Centre, Navsari on October 6, 2022 and reviewed the different research activities of State and ICAR-AICRP (Rice).
Dr. P. B. Patel, Associate Research Scientist (Breeding) welcomed Hon’ble Vice-chancellor and briefly presented the information of the research station, ongoing research experiments, seed production, germplasm maintenance, screening of genotypes, varietal/hybrid released programs on Rice and contribution & achievements of the Centre. He also elaborated about released biofortified rice varieties and their uses in malnutrition as well as CMS maintenance in hybrid rice trials and its production.
Dr. V. A. Patil, Dr. P. D. Ghoghari and Dr. P.B. Patel narrated the ongoing experiments of plant protections as well as explain about artificial screening of rice genotypes against various diseases and pests of rice.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor visited experimental trials, crossing program, Screening and evaluation of genotypes as well as seed production plots and gave valuable suggestions for the development of farm infrastructure, land development, and research facility. He also suggested the use of FYM for improving soil health and fertility of research farm.
