Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel visited the Regional Cotton Research Station, Bharuch on June 24, 2024 along with Dr. Vikas Naik, ADR and Prof. Jaimin Naik, DSW. Dr. K. V. Vadodariya, Associate Research Scientist & Head, RCRS, provided an extensive overview of the station's ongoing research endeavors. He explained various research activities of the station viz., different National, State and Station trials of cotton, and seed production programme of different release varieties of cotton and Pigeon pea, carried out under rainfed conditions at Bharuch. He also explained about sowing preparation for the next kharif season. Hon’ble VC also visited the site of the newly constructed precast wall on the farm's boundary. He expressed his satisfaction and congratulated the RCRS team for their dedication and hard work.
Meeting with District Officials:
Following the station visit, Hon’ble VC held a meeting with Shri Tushar Sumera (IAS), Collector & District Magistrate of Bharuch, and Shri N. R. Dhadhal, Resident Additional Collector of Bharuch. They engaged in a comprehensive discussion about the educational, research, and extension activities of Navsari Agricultural University. A key focus of their discussion was the RCRS, Maktampur, Bharuch. Established in 1913, this station is nationally recognized as a premier center for desi cotton research. Over the years, it has significantly contributed to the agricultural sector by developing numerous cotton varieties, benefiting farmers across the country. Additionally, it serves as an invaluable resource for students, fostering academic growth and research opportunities.
