“Natural Farming Crop Symposium (પ્રાકૃતિક ખેતી પાક પરિસંવાદ)” was successfully organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navsari on 10 September 2026 at the Central Examination Hall, NAU, Navsari. The programme was inaugurated in the esteemed presence and chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NAU, Dr. R. M. Naik.
During the address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of adopting natural farming practices under El Niño conditions and encouraged farmers to introduce new and climate-resilient. He stressed the importance of marketing, branding and value addition of natural farming produce.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sumit R. Salunkhe, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, NAU, Navsari. Dr. Hemant Sharma, Director of Extension Education, NAU, highlighted the benefits of natural farming and encouraged farmers to incorporate eco-friendly farming practices into their production systems. Dr. H. M. Virdia, Registrar, NAU, also urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices for improving soil health and ensuring sustainable agriculture. Dr. Lalit Mahatma, Associate Director of Research and Nodal Officer for Natural Farming, explained the five principles of natural farming and highlighted their importance for reducing input costs and promoting ecological sustainability.
An informative technical session was delivered by Dr. P. K. Dubey and Dr. Nilesh Kavad, who provided valuable insights into various aspects of natural farming. Progressive farmers also shared their practical experiences and success stories related to the adoption of natural farming practices. More than 250 farmers actively participated in the programme and benefited from the technical sessions and interaction with experts. As part of the programme, vermi beds were also distributed to farmers by the dignitaries to encourage the adoption of natural and sustainable farming practices. The entire programme was successfully coordinated by the scientists of KVK, Navsari and concluded with active participation and enthusiasm from the farming community.
