On September 3, 2026, a Training-cum-Awareness Programme on “Risk management for monsoon crops under the potential impact of El Nino” was organized under the “Strengthening of Extension Wing” scheme at the Department of Agricultural Extension and Communication, N. M. College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari. The programme was organized for more than 100 farmers from Tiskari and Kurgam villages of Dharampur Taluka, Valsad District.

The programme was held under the chairmanship of Dr. R.M.Naik, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari; Dr. Hemant Sharma, Director of Extension Education and Dr. Pathik B. Patel, Principal and Dean, N. M. College of Agriculture graced the occasion.

Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Naik encouraged the farmers to adopt scientific farming practices in harmony with changing climatic and natural conditions. He also encourages the farmers to make maximum use of the technologies, services and facilities available through Navsari Agricultural University for improving agricultural productivity and resilience.

Dr. Hemant Sharma provided valuable guidance to the farmers on weather-based agricultural advisories, the use of agriculture-related mobile applications, crop diversification, crop insurance, and other risk-management measures. Dr. Pathik B. Patel emphasized the importance of crop varieties and crops according to changing climatic conditions. As part of the programme, biofertilizers were distributed to the farmers for demonstration purposes to encourage the adoption of beneficial agricultural technologies. On this occasion farmers also visited main rice research station of NAU, Navsari
