A three-days Mega Krushimela jointly organized by Navsari Agricultural University and SASMIRA, Ministry of Textile showcasing technologies of NAU, Navsari and various other organizations was inaugurated by Shri C. R. Paatil, Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti, GoI on December 21, 2024. Shri Raghavjibhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, GoG; Dr. Z. P. Patel, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NAU; Shri Nareshbhai Patel, MLA Gandevi; Shri Rakeshbhai Desai, MLA Navsari; Shri Vijaybhai Patel MLA Dang & Main Deputy Whip; Shri Pareshbhai Desai, Chief, District Panchayat; Shri Rajiv Saxena, Joint Secretary, Textile Ministry; Ms Kshipra Agre, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Navsari and Ms. Pusphlata, DDO, Navsari were also present in the inauguration programme. More than 7000 farmers attended the inaugural function of this mega krushimela.
Agrotextile Centre at NAU, Navsari developed by the technical guidance of SASMIRA, Mumbai and funded by Ministry of Textiles was also inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister Shri C.R. Paatil. While addressing the farmers, Shri C.R. Paatil ji focused on the water harvesting airing the slogan “Jal hain to kal hain”. He urged farmers to harvest the water from their house & field and release below the hardpan of land so that the ground water quantity & quality can be improved. He appreciated the remarkable work by Navsari Agricultrual University under the leadership of Dr. Z. P. Patel regarding water harvesting and development of innovative agricultural technologies for socio-economic development of rural community.
Shri Raghavjibhai Patel elaborated various schemes of Government of Gujarat in detail and apprised farmers to harness the latest technologies. Dr. Z. P. Patel welcomed and thanked all the dignitaries and scientists, farmers for wholehearted support for making the mega krishi mela a grant success. He narrated the achievements of NAU, Navsari and urged farmers to interact frequently with scientists to make agriculture economically viable.
120 stalls of various technologies were set open which will remain open for 3 days (21-23 December) from morning 8.00 am to 8.00 pm for interested visitors.
