Hands-on training programme on "Extraction and Quantification of Phytochemicals and Nutrients"
Navsari Agricultural University (NAU) organized a five-day hands-on training programme entitled "Extraction and Quantification of Phytochemicals and Nutrients" from October 05 to 09, 2026. The programme aimed to provide participants with practical know-how and technical skills focused on sample collection, processing, extraction, and quantification of phytochemicals. The program was presided over by Dr. R. M. Naik, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NAU.
The event was attended by Dr. T. R. Ahlawat (Director of Research and Dean of Postgraduate Studies, NAU as the Guest of Honour), Dr. J. R. Naik (Director of students’ welfare), Dr. P. B. Patel (Convener & Principal and Dean), Dr. K. G. Patel (Co-convener & Professor and Head), Dr. V. K. Vekariya (Organising Secretory) and other committee members, experts and participants.
Addressing the participants coming from different colleges, Universities and states, Dr. R. M. Naik, Hon. VC sir emphasized the traditional and contemporary significance of plants as sources of nourishment and bioactive compounds. He also highlighted the role of hands-on training in bridging theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills and encouraged interdisciplinary interaction among participants from agriculture, biochemistry, fisheries, horticulture and basic sciences.
On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor released the manual of training "Extraction and Quantification of Phytochemicals and Nutrients". The training programme marks an important step by NAU towards phytochemicals research and development.
