Opening Ceremony of Agricultural Research Station, Vedchha
The inauguration of the newly acquired and developed Agricultural Research Station at Vedchha was held today under the esteemed leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, in the gracious presence of Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, Director of Research and Dean, P.G. Studies; Dr. H. R. Sharma, Director of Extension Education; Prof. Jaymin Naik, Director of Student Welfare; Dr. V. R. Naik, Research Scientist (Soil & Water Management); University officers; Principals from various colleges; and farmers from nearby villages.
On this auspicious occasion, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor performed the traditional pujan of agricultural land and ceremonially initiated the transplanting of paddy seedlings. He also led the plantation of Garmalo and Raktchandan trees as part of the Van Mahotsav 2025 celebrations, accompanied by other dignitaries.
During the inaugural address, Dr. V. R. Naik highlighted the challenges involved in acquiring the farm land from the government and credited the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor’s vision, persistent efforts, and support for making this achievement possible. He assured the farmers that meaningful and practical research tailored to their needs would be carried out at the station.
In his remarks, Dr. T. R. Ahlawat emphasized that the research station will focus on multiple areas, including the development of new crop varieties, studies on fertilizer and irrigation requirements, spacing trials, and more—making it a hub for agricultural innovation.
In his concluding address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor expressed his heartfelt satisfaction in seeing his long-cherished dream come true. He encouraged local farmers and residents to visit the research station freely and take advantage of the scientific knowledge and expertise available. He urged the community to build a close and collaborative relationship with the station for mutual growth and agricultural development.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. P. B. Patel, Principal and Dean, N. M. College of Agriculture, NAU, Navsari.
