The inaugural function of 2 days ISPP West Zone Seminar on ‘Innovative Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture under Changing Climate’, organized by Department of Plant Physiology NMCA, Navsari, and Indian Society for Plant Physiology New Delhi was held in the gracious presence of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel as President of the function; Dr. M. B. Chetti, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Sanskriti University, Mathura and Ex-DDG, ICAR New Delhi as Chief Guest; Dr. Madan Pal, ISPP and Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, DR, NAU as Guests of honour; Dr. O. P. Sharma I/c Dean NMCA and other dignitaries on December 22, 2022.
Hon'ble VC in his presidential address highlighted the need to adopt climate smart technologies to combat the climate change consequences and also to develop such technologies for local conditions. He said, the lack of immediate efforts to mitigate or adapt to climate change can have serious consequences, especially in a rapidly developing country like India. Navsari Agricultural University is trying hard to overcome the challenges posed by climate change by making efforts in many directions to reduce greenhouse gases, earn carbon credits, develop eco-friendly technologies, and develop improved varieties of crops to reduce the impact of climate change.
Hon'ble VC congratulated Organizing secretaries Dr. Ajay Narwade & Dr. Manjushree Singh, and all members of the organizing team for successful organization and gathering of scientists & students of various states in this very important seminar at NAU Navsari. The souvenir containing abstracts was released in the inaugural function. Total of around 150 participants from 9 different states have registered for this seminar.
