On the occasion, an interaction session with faculties and students was organized by the Department of Entomology, NMCA, Navsari in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel along with the QRT members, Dr. H. C. Sharma, Chairman, QRT (AICRP-HB&P) and Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. YSPUHF, Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh; Dr. D. P. Abrol, Ex-Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST, Jammu; Dr. R. K. Thakur, Ex-Project Coordinator, ICAR-AICRP HB&P; Dr. Kavuri Lakshmi Rao, Ex-Joint Director, Central Bee Research and Training Insiitute, (CBRTI), Pune, Maharashtra; Dr. M.R. Srinivasan, Ex- Principal investigator, ICAR-AICRP HB&P; Dr. Sachin S. Suroshe, Project Coordinator, ICAR-AICRP HB&P, Division of Entomology, IARI, New Delhi and Dr. Kumaranag K. M., Scientist, ICAR-AICRP HB&P, Division of Entomology, IARI, New Delhi.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel welcomed the QRT members and appreciated the work done on beekeeping research in the NAU, Navsari despite of being a volunteer centre. Moreover, Dr. H. C. Sharma, Chairman, QRT has delivered talk on Host Plant Resistance to insects for pest management to ensure food security. Dr. R. M. Naik, Principal & Dean, NMCA and ACH, NAU; Dr. Lalit Mahatma, ADR, NAU; Dr. J. J. Pastagia, Professor & Head of Entomology and PI (AICRP HB&P) and other staff members of Entomology and Plant Pathology were also present in the interaction session. More than 100 faculties and students were attended the function.
On 4th September, 2024 the QRT members visited Sahyadri Honey apiary of Ashokbhai at Soldhara, Chikhli and Nareshbhai at Mahuva. They appreciated the efforts made by the beekeepers in connection with NAU, Navsari.
