Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Naik presided over the Board of Studies Meeting of the Faculty of Horticulture, Navsari Agricultural University held on 11 September 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Department of Postharvest Technology, ASPEE College of Horticulture.

In his address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor appreciated the dedication and contributions of the faculty members towards advancing quality education, research and outreach activities. He emphasized the need for high-impact academic work, innovation, skill-oriented education and stronger community engagement to address emerging challenges in the field of horticulture.

He also congratulated the team of the Department of Postharvest Technology, ASPEE College of Horticulture on achieving ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System certifications.

Dr. Hemant Sharma, DEE; Dr. H. M. Viradia, Registrar; Dr. Alka Singh, Principal and Dean, Faculty of Horticulture; Dr. Lalit Mahatma, ADR ; Dr. Priti Desai, ADH, Surat; Dr. Ketan Desai, Retd. Principal, Horticulture Polytechnic; the Principals of Horticulture Polytechnics; UG and PG academic in-charges; and all the Heads of Departments of ASPEE College of Horticulture were present at the meeting.  Dr. Alka Singh delivered the welcome address, highlighted the growth and achievements of the College and briefed the members on the agenda of the meeting.

The meeting included extensive deliberations on upgrading the undergraduate academic curriculum in accordance with the recommendations of the ICAR Sixth Deans’ Committee and the proceedings related to establishing a common academic structure among State Agricultural Universities. Discussions also focused on developing an industry-aligned curriculum, addressing emerging skill requirements and introducing new certificate courses to enhance students’ employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.

All agenda items were discussed in detail with valuable inputs from the members. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Shivam Bhatt representing as member secretary, Registrar office, NAU, Navsari.
