Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, special lectures were organized by the Office of the Director of Students’ Welfare by Padma Shri Awardees at NAU on July 05, 2024.
Padma Shri Uma Shankar Pandeyji delivered lecture on “Traditional Water Conservation”. In his lecture, he emphasized the significance of ancient water management practices in addressing contemporary water challenges. He also highlighted the traditional techniques like step wells, check dams, and rainwater harvesting, emphasizing their efficiency and sustainability. He discussed how these methods, deeply rooted in Indian culture, have historically supported communities through droughts and water scarcity. His talk inspired the audience to reconnect with indigenous wisdom to ensure a sustainable and water-secure future for the coming generations.
Padma Shri Kanwal Singh Chauhanji delivered a lecture on “Market for Fruit and Vegetable Processing”. In his enlightening lecture, he emphasized the transformative potential of innovative agricultural practices. Drawing from his extensive experience in horticulture, he advocated for the adoption of modern techniques like precision farming, hydroponics, and the commercial cultivation of exotic vegetables and mushrooms.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor presided over the function and emphasized on water conservation and highlighted the work done by the University in his presidential speech. Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, Director of Research & Dean PG Studies; Prof. Jaimin Naik, Director of Students’ Welfare; other University Officers, Principal & Deans also remained present during the occasion.
More than 250 scientists, professors and students of NAU benefitted from the interaction with the Padma Shri Awardee and were enlightened with the vision of water conservation and processing of Horticulture products.
