Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, accompanied by Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, Director of Research, and Dr. V. R. Naik, ADR, marked a historic moment by planting GE Banana plants in Gujarat for the first time. This milestone was achieved at the Fruit Research Station, Gandevi on September 13, 2023, as part of the "Banana Biofortification Project" supported by BIRAC-DBT, New Delhi.
All the dignitaries visited the research experimental sites of ICAR-AICRP (Fruits) and the Nursery of fruit crops. Dr. Ankur Patel, Unit Head & Assoc. Res. Sci., FRS, Gandevi presented the ongoing research status and progress of various projects and activities of the centre.
