In a significant step towards enhancing the practical skills of forestry students, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel inaugurated the Tranquilizer Gun, an important tool for the courses of wildlife, especially in the practicals of "Chemical Restraint of Wild animals in forested and human-dominated landscapes." The Govt of Gujarat approved this equipment under the project "Conservation of Large Carnivores in Gujarat."
The Tranquilizer Gun marks pivotal for forestry students, empowering them to delve deeper into the science of chemical restraint. It will play a crucial role in facilitating effective research by the Department of Wildlife Sciences, College of Forestry on various large carnivores including Leopard, Wolf, Hyena, Lion, and Sloth Bear. This initiative enhances the educational experience and contributes significantly to ongoing conservation efforts through wildlife research.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Jaimin Naik, Director of Students' Welfare and Dr. M. B. Tandel, Dean, College of Forestry.
Following the inauguration, Hon'ble VC also visited the laboratories of GIS, Tree Improvement and Forest Biotechnology. Dr. Dileswar Nayak, Dr. S. K. Jha and Dr. Vipul Patel provided detailed insights into the advanced research and innovative projects being conducted in these facilities. Their presentations highlighted the college's commitment to pioneering research and excellence in Forestry.
