Celebration of Word Soil Day at NMCA, NAU, Navsari
The Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, N. M. College of Agriculture, NAU, Navsari chapter-Indian Society of Soil Science (ISSS), and the Student Representative Council (SRC), have jointly organized World Soil Day Celebration on December 5, 2025. Various capacity building competitive events viz., quiz, poster making, vegetable carving and craft making (Best out of Waste) were conducted for under graduate, post graduate and polytechnic students. A Soil Science book fair was also arranged for creating awareness and reading habits in students. These celebrations aimed to raise awareness about soil health, sustainable soil management and to engage undergraduates, post-graduates and polytechnic students in soil-related knowledge and activities. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari and event was registered in food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) under their “World Wide Events”.
Hon’ble VC sir interacted with student participants and visited all the capacity building events. Dr. H. M. Virdia, Registrar; Dr. H. R. Sharma, Director of Extension Education, Prof. J. R. Naik, Director of Student Walfare; Dr. P. B. Patel, Principal and Dean, NMCA; Dr. K. G. Patel, Professor and Head, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry; Dr. Neethu T. M., Organizing Secretary; Principals of various colleges and Polytechnics, Professor and Heads of various departments, faculty members of various colleges and student participants were present. More than 600 students from various schools of Navsari district visited the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry for World Soil Day Celebration. A total of 241 students were participated in various event, out of which 173 students were from various degree colleges and 68 were from polytechnics under NAU. The best three positions of each competitive events as well as all participants were awarded with prizes and certificates during the valedictory function.
