"Biodiversity is the key for developing variety of desirable traits in any fruit crops” underlined by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, during the inauguration of “Banana Biodiversity Fair cum Farmer Scientist interaction” on July 12, 2024 at Department of Fruit Science, ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari. He appreciated the collection, conservation and utilization work on banana genotypes carried out by ICAR-AICRP (Fruit), Fruit Research Station, NAU, Gandevi.
Progressive banana growers from all the seven districts of South Gujarat, PG students and faculty of fruit science department were remain present in the programme. More than 40 different varieties of banana were displayed in this program followed by a technical session on ‘New technologies in banana farming’, ‘Macro-propagation in banana’, ‘Pest and disease management in banana’ and a ‘Discussion of farmer’s problem in banana farming’ by experts of NAU.
