Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, inaugurated the Central Tissue Culture Lab located at RVKY Building, ASPEE College of Horticulture, Navsari on June 9, 2024. Plant tissue culture is widely utilized for micropropagation and the large-scale multiplication of agriculturally significant crops. Recognizing the demand for tissue-cultured plants in the South Gujarat region, a Central Tissue Culture Lab has been established under the guidance and visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor. This facility focuses on propagating horticulturally important crops specific to the region.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. H. R. Sharma, Director of Extension Education; Prof. Jaimin Naik, Director of Students' Welfare; Dr. H. M. Virdia, Librarian; Dr. R. M. Naik, Principal and Dean, N. M. College of Agriculture & ASPEE College of Horticulture; Dr. O. P. Sharma, Principal and Dean, ASPEE Agribusiness Management Institute; Dr. Vipul Shinde, Executive Engineer; Dr. M. B. Tandel, Principal and Dean, College of Forestry; Dr. V. R. Naik, and Dr. Lalit Mahatma, Associate Director of Research, along with the professors, Heads of Research Units, and other faculty members from various colleges.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor praised Dr. Ajay Narwade, Associate Professor and Head, Central Tissue Culture Lab, and his team for creating this facility and commended the lab's successful tissue culture efforts with a variety of crops including banana, chrysanthemum, pineapple, bamboo, gladiolus and orchid. This initiative is expected to advance plant tissue culture techniques and support sustainable agriculture practices.
