A ‘Khedut Din' was organized by Niger Research Station, Vanarasi on under the AICRP-Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) on February 05, 2024 in the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel along with Dr. V. R. Naik, ADR and the scientists of the centre.
Hon'ble VC, in his presidential address, emphasized on the importance of niger oil for medicinal use and also suggested various interventions which helps to increase net profit in niger. He also shared his views regarding financial management and market policies and congratulated the team of NRS Vanarasi for organizing this beneficial shibir for the farmers.
Dr. P. M. Mistry, Associate Research Scientist welcomed the dignitaries and explained the motto and various activities of TSP programmes as well as various research activities carried out at the station. Dr. V. R. Naik, ADR shared his ideas regarding the judicious use of land and fertilizer/bio fertilizers along with its proper utilization. Dr. P. K. Jagtap, Assistant Research Scientist briefed about the released improved varieties of niger and importance of different oilseed crops and Dr. S. P. Deshmukh briefed the cultivation practices of Niger with reduced cost of cultivation.
Total around 180 tribal farmers were participated in the programme. The beneficiaries of the programme were distributed kit comprised of 2 kg seed of dhanchia, bio fertilizers, Novel and mango fruit fly trap and vegetable trap. On this occasion, two publications, viz; A booklet on "Niger Research Station at a glance" and Folder on "Improved varieties of Niger released by NRS, Vanarsi" in vernacular language were released by the dignitaries.
