Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel visited Regional Cotton Research Station, Bharuch on April 23, 2024 along with Dr. V. A. Solanki, Member of Academic Council; Dr. D. D. Patel, Principal CoA, Bharuch and Prof. Jaimin Naik. Dr. K. V. Vadodariya Head RCRS, Bharuch welcomed all the dignitaries and gave detailed information regarding different research activities carried out at the research station viz., different National and State level trials of Bt, non-Bt, Herbaceum and Arboreum cotton, ongoing different breeding activities, seed production of cotton and pigeon pea, detailed activities carried out under GKMS scheme and meteorological data recorded and maintained from last many years etc.
Hon’ble VC visited the newly renovated breeding store, where he received comprehensive updates on cotton sample ginning and associated data recording. Additionally, he was briefed on the latest arrivals of tractors and their enhanced implements. During his visit to the fields, the Hon’ble VC gained detailed insights into various Desi cotton trials, as well as the germplasm maintained at the research station, which includes 300 accessions from CICR, Nagpur, and the recently introduced desi cotton variety G. Cot. 31 (Narmada Gold). He conveyed his satisfaction and delight regarding the extensive research endeavors undertaken by RCRS, and extended best wishes to the entire team of RCRS, Bharuch.
