NAU, Navsari celebrated ‘World Bee Day’ on May 20, 2024, in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel as the President of function; Dr. T. R. Ahlawat, DR; Dr. N. M. Chauhan, DEE; Dr. O. P. Sharma, Principal, NMCA; Dr. Milan Tandel, Principal, CoF; Mr. Jasbir Singh, Assistant Director of KVIC Ahmedabad; and Mr. Dinesh Padalia, Deputy Director of Horticulture.
In his presidential address, Hon’ble VC highlighted the crucial role of honey bees and other pollinators in maintaining Earth's biodiversity and praised the beekeepers for their relentless efforts in advancing beekeeping in South Gujarat. Progressive beekeepers were honored by the Hon’ble VC and other dignitaries during the program.
The program included a technical session, the sharing of experiences by beekeepers, and practical exposure to honey bees. It was jointly organized by the College of Forestry, Navsari; Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navsari; Department of Entomology, N.M. College of Agriculture, Navsari, and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Ahmedabad. Dr. J. J. Pastagia, Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, NMCA; Dr. Kinjal Shah, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK; Dr. Abhishek Mehta, Assistant Professor, College of Forestry, and their teams meticulously planned and executed the event, ensuring its grand success.
