Induction cum foundation programme “Deeksharambh-2024-25” was organized by College of Forestry, Navsari on October 25, 2024. The program was enlightened with the auspicious presence of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel, as president; Dr. H. M. Viradia, Registrar, as Chief Guest; Prof. Jaimin Naik, Director of Student Welfare, and Dr. Hemant Sharma, Director of Extension as Guests of Honour.

In his presidential address, Hon'ble VC congratulated all the students for being enrolled in Gujarat’s only institution focused on forestry education and a beacon of excellence in sustainable forestry development. He briefed about the advance facility in department of wildlife sciences (dart gun, ornithology, mammal research), well equipped laboratory facility of SAF, FRM and FBTI Department, bamboo resource center which is one of the best in India available in College of Forestry. He emphasized that forestry transcends traditional academic boundaries, involving the understanding of ecosystems, biodiversity preservation, and global efforts to combat climate change. He praised the exceptional staff and state-of-the-art facilities of the College of Forestry, noting that the faculty excel in their fields while fostering a supportive academic environment. He also noted the diversity among the faculty coming from different parts of India with different expertise, which enriches the learning environment with various perspectives on forestry and the environment. At the end he congratulated all the newly enrolled students and wished for their prosperous career.

The Inaugural function started with welcome address of Dr. M. B. Tandel, Dean, College of forestry. He further briefed about various activities (yoga, visit to different departments and laboratories, student teacher interaction and cultural activities to make them comfortable and acquainted with new environment) were carried out by the newly enrolled students.

Dr. B.S. Desai - Academic in-charge UG coordinated the program which was gracefully concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jayesh Pathak. The event ended on a vibrant and celebratory note with a lively cultural program, where first-semester students had the chance to showcase their talents. They enthralled the audience with an array of performances, including mime, garba, group singing and energetic dancing.
