Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Naik, Navsari Agricultural University (NAU), Navsari visited the Rambhas Farm and Rajendrapur Farm of the Hill Millet Research Station, NAU, Waghai on 9th September 2026.
On the occasion of Technology Week, organized by KVK, Waghai (Dangs), Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Naik, Navsari Agricultural University (NAU), Navsari, along with Director of Research Dr. T. R. Ahlawat; Director of Extension Education Dr. H. R. Sharma; Director of Students’ Welfare Prof. Jaimin Naik; Associate Director of Research Dr. Vikas R. Naik and Associate Director of Research Dr. Lalit Mahatma visited the Rambhas Farm and Rajendrapur Farm of the Hill Millet Research Station, NAU, Waghai on 9th September 2026.
Dr. Paresh A. Vavdiya, Associate Research Scientist and Unit Head, welcomed the dignitaries and facilitated the farm visit. The University authorities reviewed the ongoing research programmes, field activities and initiatives focused on the development and promotion of improved varieties and technologies for small millets.
During the visit, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor interacted with the scientists and staff and took keen interest in the ongoing research programmes. He appreciated the efforts being made in research trials, seed production and management, strengthening millet research, promoting sustainable agriculture and contributing to the welfare of farming communities.
The visit also provided an opportunity to deliberate upon future research priorities, technological interventions and strategies for enhancing the productivity and value addition of various millet crops.
In afternoon session, detailed report of the last five years comprising research and outreach activities of the center were present by unit head in presence of all the authorities.
Following the presentation, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Naik appreciated the comprehensive presentation and held detailed discussions with the research staff. He provided valuable suggestions and guidance for further strengthening and improving the research, seed production and outreach activities of the Centre.
The visit reaffirmed NAU’s commitment to advancing millet research, promoting sustainable agricultural technologies and enhancing the livelihoods of farming communities.
