Rubber Plants Corridor was planned and commissioned in Navsari Agricultural University by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Z. P. Patel on April 02, 2024. NAU, Navsari signed MoU with the Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII), Kottayam (Kerala) in 2022 and initiated research on the feasibility of rubber plantation in Gujarat. Around 1200 plants of rubber clone RRII-430 were planted at the Agriculture Experimental Station, Paria and 13 other research stations of NAU in Bharuch, Narmada, Navsari, Surat, Valsad and Dang districts in 2022. Looking at the promising results and performance, 2000 more plants were planted in 2023 at Rajendrapur Farm, Hill Millet Research Station, Waghai.
Apart from this, a Rubber Plant Corridor was also planned and commissioned at Agronomy Farm, Navsari alongside the road so that the farmers and visitors can visit and have a look at the progress of the plants and its potential in boosting the income of farmers and economy of Gujarat.
In a pleasant surprise, the birthday of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor was celebrated on this occasion by all the university officers and faculties of NAU. A specially crafted cake, adorned with designs of the newly constructed road and rubber plants, was prepared and ceremoniously cut, adding a unique touch to the celebration.
